BiBi: Progressive Indian Cuisine in the Heart of Mayfair
Nestled on North Audley Street in Mayfair, BiBi offers a sophisticated take on Indian cuisine that honors tradition while embracing innovation. Led by chef-patron Chet Sharma, who brings experience from some of Europe's most esteemed Michelin-starred restaurants, BiBi (meaning 'Lady of the House' - an affectionate term for grandmother) draws inspiration from Sharma's heritage and culinary memories.
A Unique Culinary Approach
BiBi serves contemporary Indian dishes that showcase the finest British produce alongside carefully sourced spices and ingredients from the subcontinent. The restaurant offers two distinct dining experiences: at lunch, guests can choose between a three-course (£65) or five-course (£95) set menu, while dinner features two tasting menus named after Chef Sharma's grandmothers - the lighter 'Kamal' (£145) and the more decadent 'Ranjana' (£195).
Signature dishes include the much-praised Lahori Chicken with cashew and yoghurt whey, Orkney Scallop served with Indian lemonade, and the Buffalo Milk Paneer with fenugreek kebab masala. The restaurant's approach to spicing is thoughtful and precise, creating complex flavor profiles that honor traditional Indian cuisine while presenting it in a refined, contemporary context.
Atmosphere and Experience
The intimate 33-seat restaurant features polished wood, an open kitchen with counter seating, and a 16-seat terrace. The design creates a warm, sophisticated atmosphere that complements the culinary experience. Service is consistently praised as attentive and knowledgeable, with staff expertly guiding guests through both the menu and the carefully curated drinks selection.
BiBi has quickly established itself as one of London's most acclaimed dining destinations, collecting numerous accolades including GQ Restaurant of the Year 2022 and placing fifth in the National Restaurant Awards 2022.
Note: Due to licensing restrictions, BiBi cannot accommodate children under 12 years of age.
